From the Back Cover
Uniquely, this book defines and explains spirituality in terms that are common to all using language that goes beyond religious and atheistic thought forms. Clarity and distinction is made between true spiritual practices and those that are based on emotion or imagination. The mathematical relationship between spirituality, humanity and the cosmos is explained.
About the Author
Swāmi Shankarananda Giri teaches Kriyā Yoga to anyone who desires to receive instructions in this path as a means for spiritual evolution. Swamiji teaches this technique in the same way that he received it from his masters. He considers himself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve many Kriyā Yoga masters including Swāmis Atmananda Giri, Sevānanda Giri, Vidyānanda Giri, Satyananda Giri and Brahmacāri Suśilanandajī. Swamiji also served Paramhansa Hariharananda for many years and worked with him closely to spread the practice of Kriyā Yoga both in India and abroad for twelve years from 1974 – 1987.
In 1987 Swamiji began independent work to maintain the technique as it was. Since then, many centres have been opened worldwide with Swamiji’s active support and participation.
Swamiji is based in India and takes a keen and active interest in the local communities there. He is the founder of one city school with 3000 students and three schools for tribal communities, two offering subsidised schooling and the third, free schooling to orphans
Swamiji is a master of Śrī Yukteśwarjī’s Cosmic Astrology which he has practiced for more than forty years. He teaches Cosmic Astrology to interested Kriya Yoga students.
However, Swamiji’s central mission is to teach Kriyā Yoga meditation, with the intention of elevating students to a level even above his own. In this regard, he maintains a strict purity of teaching and discipline. Today his teachings are borne out of direct experience rather than an intellectual understanding of spirituality. In this sense, Swamiji’s understanding is unique.
